The Jamestown district of Accra, Ghana, is home to the Jamestown lighthouse. A previous lighthouse that had been built in 1871 was replaced by the current 28-meter (92-foot) structure in the 1930s. It is made up of a keeper's home and a stone tower with a gallery and lantern. Red and white horizontal bands are painted on the lighthouse and keeper's home, respectively.

The 1930s-era lighthouse continues to provide a breathtaking panoramic view of the surroundings. Take a stroll to the Nshorna, where canoe lines give place to areas for cleaning and smoking fish, by descending the slope at its base. Ga people use traditional techniques to cure, smoke, and flavor fish in smokehouses, turning a typical catch into delicacies. This provides protein across the country and reduces waste during periods of record catches.
