The State mosque is perched on a hill overlooking the Qatar Sports Club is located in Doha's West Bay in the Jubailat neighborhood and to the south of the Corniche. It was built in the early 20th century by Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani, the founder of Qatar Mosque Boualaqbib, who learned while returning from a military expedition in Zubara in 1878 of his father's passing and decided to build a massive mosque in Doha.

The Grand Mosque's façade is made of sandstone and keeps historical components from Qatar's distinguished past. The lovely mosque also depicts the Doha story with its sandstone façade, low building height, and ninety tiny domes that imitate the development limits in place when Qatar was still a young country.

Highlights of State Mosque

  • The conspicuous might of the mosque: The largest mosque in the country and spectacular new Imam Muhammad Ibn Abd Al Wahhab Mosque in Doha has over 22 domes on its roof, giving it the appearance of a fort. The mosque has 20 entrances, of which three are main and 17 are side doors. These entrances make it simpler for the masses of people to enter and exit the mosque during prayer times, reducing congestion.
  • Representative of artistic fusion: Because of its distinctive domed roof, clean lines, and retention of some traditional Islamic architectural elements, the great mosque will be a stunning example of architectural splendor and an iconic building in Doha. A minaret, a brilliant half-moon, and huge outdoor spaces are also present. The mosque's domes and arches are exquisitely illuminated at sunset, so perhaps it is even more magnificent from the outside.
  • Witness the grandeur of its interiors: The inside of the Grand Mosque is exquisitely designed and exudes light and tranquility. Large, stunning chandeliers that hang from the domed ceilings, well-designed corridors, and prayer halls in this large mosque illuminate its expansive spaces at night. The Grand Mosque's interior is entirely air-conditioned, and the prayer rooms, corridors, walkways, and library are all spacious and well-lit.
  • Comfort and care for its visitors: The mosque's air-conditioned main hall can accommodate over 10,000 men, while the chamber next to it, which overlooks the men's section, can accommodate 1300 women. The prayer rooms' floors are carpeted with soft materials for the ease and comfort of those who come to pray, and lifts are accessible for those who need them to reach the mezzanine floor.
