Globe Roundabout

The Globe Roundabout is another of Jeddah's most popular destinations, and it can be found at the crossroads where King Abdul Aziz Road and Assalam Street meet. It is an excellent example of urban architecture. It is a wonderful illustration of city planning and design and looks all the more enchanting, against the blackness of the night sky when the enormous globe is illuminated in the evening.

It has been placed at a crossroads and is flanked by flags representing Saudi Arabia. It is well-known for its enormous size and spectacular construction, demonstrating that Makkah is the light and the center of the Islamic world.

Highlights:

  • In addition to the significance of the field, it features a spectacular design that draws attention to a globe lit up in green and blue and surrounded by a white crescent moon. This design brings even more attention to the natural beauty of the field.

  • A visit to the Globe Roundabout is essential for a day spent in Jeddah and should not be skipped. Every nightfall, the black and silver globe, designed and built by Spanish architect Julio Lafuente, is transformed into a stunning spectacle by adding blue and green lights.

  • It is an enormous structure made of glass and steel that towers over the nearby traffic circle.

  • You are free to walk around the illuminated metal globe while trying to locate your home country on the map of the world being revealed here.

  • An amazing fact is that the sculptor, Julio Lafuente, who designed the bicycle sculpture in Bicycle Square, was also the architect who designed and built the Giant Globe. Similar to Bicycle Square, it is a magnet for vacationers interested in art.
