UAE geared up for T20 World Cup Extravaganza

There hasn’t been such a long wait for a world cup before! This pandemic has led to a five-and-a-half-year gap between T20 World Cups. India had hosted the last tournament way back in 2016, where West Indies were crowned the champions.
The world has witnessed notable changes in the past one and half years or so in the cricketing landscape, and the T20 World had to shift from Australia to India and finally to the UAE and Oman. According to the ICC ( International Cricket Council ), the 2021-T20 World Cup is the biggest sporting spectacle to have ever taken place in the region.

Although there aren’t any clear-cut favorites for the title, India is claimed to be one of the teams that would clinch the trophy. For India, UAE has come to be their second home in cricket terms with the second half of the T20 Indian Premier League being played at Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah, resuming last month after being suspended mid-year. England, Australia, New Zealand, and Pakistan are all equally in the hunt too.

Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium, Sharjah Cricket Stadium, and Dubai International Cricket Stadium are the venues scheduled for Super 12 and the finale. Each of the three venues has been operating at 70 percent of maximum seated capacity, and the ticket prices start at Dh30.

It was during the match between Australia and South Africa that the followers attending the match received to witness the sport from particular socially-distanced household ‘pods’ on the grass banks. Organizers put up the fenced-off enclosures for households of as much as 4 to look at the match whilst sustaining well-being and security requirements.
