Located in the center of Ajaccio's old quarter, close to the east coast, lies the majestic Place Foch.
Stunning flora in the area inspired the previous names for this square - Alder Square and Palm Tree Square.
The plaza served a functional purpose in ancient Ajaccio, connecting the city with the port.
The plaza is open for all at all hours year-round with no entrance cost. Every Thursday throughout the months of July and August, there is a fascinating performance of the Changing of the Guard.
The plaza is accessible from just about everywhere in the city by public transportation.
